A classy outfit initially viewed as proteges of producer Robert John 'Mutt' Lange. The sound is built around the superb vocal delivery of Leigh Matty and Lange's exquisite production. Debut album utilized the songwriting abilities of John Parr and the track 'Heaven In The Back Seat' received major airplay and inclusion on the film soundtrack album of 'Nightmare on Elm Street 5'.

In spite of a big promotion push ROMEO'S DAUGHTER failed to capture the public interest at the first attempt. For the second album 'Delectable' the band had signed to Music For Nations. The album included FM and DIAMOND HEAD bassist Merv Goldsworthy guesting in the studio. More laudable press followed but the band had lost their impetus. Following a dalliance with a more Countryfied direction the group split, keyboard player Tony 'Slim' Mitman guesting on tour with close pals FM for a period.

Leigh Matty was reported to be recording a solo album during 1997 although this has yet to surface. American superstars HEART later covered 'Wild Child' from ROMEO'S DAUGHTER's first album. 2004 saw guitarist Craig Joiner and drummer Andy Wells working the clubs with Merv Goldsworthy, the latter having married Leigh Matty.
