Finally found some food, not the best either lol. (Think I need to find a new word I'm over using the lol :-) lol ) Then had way to much to drink, me and Tequila don't mix as I found out very quickly. I've been told since that some call it To Kill Ya instead of Tequila, which I can definitely relate to with the nice hangover I had the next day!

6th Sept 2005

We arrived at the Soaring Eagle late afternoon. Met up with some other cool Meat fans. Two of them being Robert and Kim :-) Robert had posted on Meats official website that he was going to the show and that he was travelling from Iraq. Here's his story "A journey of 10,000 miles" You have to be a member to read it but I'm sure he wont mind me posting the story here.

A Journey of 10,000 miles

I’ve been debating for some time whether or not to post the tale of what I am going through to see Meat Loaf on this tour. Even now I have my not sure if what I am going to do is a definition of a true fan or the definition of insanity.

A little background is in order. Over the last 16 months I have been working as a government contractor supporting the military in Iraq. The hardest part of the job is being away from my wife. We keep in touch daily through emails and phone calls but the times in between can be very lonely. I retired from the Army a few years back and have had to many times spend time away from her. With that type of experience one would think it would get easier, but it doesn’t, at least not for me. Anyway music always helps me through these times and of course a healthy chunk of what I listen too is Meat Loaf.

The company I work for allows us chances to return to the states every 4 months or so for a couple of weeks. I have tried to make each vacation like a honeymoon whether it be a week in Las Vegas or a Caribbean Cruise want the time together to be memorable. This time we planned a week in a Canada in a remote location that can only be accessed by float plane. Part of the plan is a road trip from our home from San Antonio Texas driving to Canada to the location to fly out of in Ontario. Part of the reason for the road trip is totally selfish, I bought a new Mustang and don’t get to drive it much.

While planning the trip I ran across the Meat Loaf tour dates and noticed he was in concert during the time I would be home. Comparing routes to concert locals the closest I could come to a venue that fit is Mt Pleasant, Mi, a mere 400 miles out of the way. What are 400 miles when you have travelled 9000? The only thing left to convince my better half it was necessary to go to the concert and also M&G. It didn’t take much to convince her. (She’s always up for adventure)

So now I am just waiting for time to pass, waiting for the journey to begin. There still are so many things that can go wrong; it could all fall apart like a house of cards. Part of this lack of optimism is the old soldier in me that whispers “You ain’t on vacation until you eat it here and sh*t it there” in other words any plans you make can change in the blink of an eye due to no fault of your own.

I have to admit I’m getting pretty juiced at the thought of going to the concert especially the M&G. Not that I’ll have anything to say other than ‘thank you’ but just being part of the behind the scenes activity is something I’ve always wanted to see.

So that’s the story so far. I will post progress when I can if anyone is interested. As I’ve said, it will be a hell of a story if it all works out.

And indeed it was a hell of a story! As I write this Robert and Kim still haven't came back online from their travels, but they both had the time of their lives at the show! Below you can see some pix of Robert with various bandmembers. You all made his trip sooooo special as you did the rest of us, thank you to all of the NLE for being such wonderful people :-)

This is the only show this tour, that I've seen anyway, where you can actually see John, so you'll have to forgive me that most of the pix are of him at this show lol.

This was my 1st show in the US. It was in a casino and they're very anal about you sitting down For those in UK who haven't been to a show here, It's exactly the same as a bingo hall. There was tables and chairs everywhere. Very weird for me as in the UK we only really have standing shows or seated in rows. We had seats in the second section. These weren't bad as they were raised higher than the other seats and we had the 1st row of these. The stage was also much smaller than any stage I've seen for Meat on for a very long time.

I actually really loved this show. Think it was a mixture of loving being in the US especially after I thought I'd seen my last show. Being with very good friends and being is such a small venue. Even being told to sit didn't spoil it for me as I ignored them, but I know it did spoil it for a lot. Once Meat and the band came out we all stood at our table, much to the disgust of all around us I might add! I think they thought they'd actually came to play bingo! Some of our group felt bad and gave into the bullying from the people at the other tables. I wasn't going to sit though, I'd been to enough shows to know Meat really doesn't want the audience sitting. For his sake alone I wasn't gonna sit. I'd came a long way and wasn't going to let anyone or anything spoil this show for me :-) So I spent 80% of the show being the only one standing lol. I also spent most of the show being told off by some idiot to the side of me. As did most of our table. At one point they were even throwing things at me to sit down! Did they not realise they'd gone to a rock concert? Dave even got hit by one of them :-( They even had the cheek to tell us Meat wanted us to sit! Yeah right lol. It was very funny when during Took the words Meat picked on more of the audience than I've ever seen him pick on before lol. Funny how they all got up then! After one song the woman to the side said to me, We're all sitting down now. Like I had to as well. So I told her I hadn't gone all that way for her to tell me when I could and couldn't stand! One of the security said to me just after "Missy, you're treading a fine line and if you stand once more, you're out" WTF! So I just said yeah ok and went to the loo. Thinking to myself, ok, if I'm gonna get chucked out anyway I may as well get chucked out for a reason :-) So I decided to go up front and join Robert and Kim. Their table had told me before the show to sit with them but I didn't like to, but as it was during Anything For love I figured that with any luck the crowd would actually stay standing and nobody would notice I was there. Would of been a bit tricky if they'd sat though lol, I'd of had to of sat on someone's lap! So off I walked down to them and luckily Kim pulled me in with them straight away (Thanx Kim, you're wonderful :-) ) So I got to stand right in front of Kasim with Robert! I couldn't believe just how low the stage was, also their table was actually touching the stage so we couldn't have been any closer unless we'd been onstage! I was enjoying the show anyway tonight but being down there was amazing. Got lots of waves and smiles from most of the band :-) And some cool pix, I'm glad them people moaned at me and that security threatened to chuck me out, cause If they hadn't I guess I'd of stayed where I was and I'd never of managed to get Johns drumstick from back there :-)

The show was amazing. Meat and the band were amazing, Meat and the band really made the best of the situation' even though most of the time they were playing to a dead audience lol. I noticed an extra line in Only When I Fell tonight. If it's asleep, wake it! Was very appropriate for this audience!
