MEAT LOAF - NEWCASTLE TELEWEST ARENA

9TH DEC 2003

After a 6hr Journey we arrived at The Telewest by the skin of our teeth lol. The flyover was chocker and the queue for the car park was even worse! We finally got a parking space on the top floor of the multi storey car park. (which we knew straight away meant we'd be last out after the show lol)

Got to our seats with seconds to spare before Kasim came out. Thankfully. As always he was excellent and went down really well with the crowd.

Seems the Telewest had put superglue on the seats tonight to try to keep us all down. I was working on getting mine off for ages! even got up a few times but got some strange looks so sat back down lol.

Wasted Youth Speech

This has changed since the 1st 3 UK shows, before Meat collapsed. While they play the speech in the background, Meat comes out on a stretcher, with Patti and CC around him, Patti and CC are heard saying, "He's going into cardiac arrest" Then you hear the machine flatline.. Patti and CC go off stage, leaving Meat lying there, this seems like an eternity and you can see him on the screens the whole time with his chest going up and down, while Wasted youth Speech is played in the background. Impressive start, but a bit scary. Wish I'd got some better pix but wasn't at all ready for it lol. Even though I'd read about it before hand. At the end of the speech Meat gets up puts his mask on and they all come out and go into the Intro for "Do it"

Meat asked Billy to put the lights on, he got us all singing and then motioned for us all to stand up. Most of us broke free from the superglue by then:-)

After I'd lie for you, Meat went on to say that he didn't know if he was going to do this tonight (Forever young) and that he wanted to pretend in his mind that I was leaving a message on each and everyone of our fone answering machines,  to say thank you, but since that time, Jim Steinman  has foned him and there will be Bat 3, until that time this is for you Newcastle...

Before Patti came out Meat said that he knows its cold outside.... his brain acts the same way, it gets a little frozen in the cells.. It don’t spark . He said he's got one finger in the air, I'm doing it from side to side. I would love everybody in Newcastle to do this with me. Ok now lets all go outside and get everybody in the whole town.... na forget that lets do this. To which Charlie comes out with his jacket and helps him put it on..

Meat stops again and says,  ok we're gonna play a little game called guess the animal.... He does an impression of one to which Patti says kangaroo.  Meat says It screws like a.,,,,  To which Patti replies a rabbit Meat then says: obviously I make a really bad rabbit, you don't see many fat rabbits... then makes a joke about E.W.E.S lucky, didn't quite catch it all lol

He then goes and drinks from a bottle, goes over to Patti, lies on the floor and spits water up in the air lol.. Patti guesses straight away.. a Whale.

Then Meat says good guess baby, now the most important one, guess what animal this is!! Then he goes into the routine below lol....

At one point during Paradise Meat was getting kicked by Patti, he said to her: "Ow you kicked me in the head and the arm and the butt.. I'm going back to the hospital!"

At the end of Paradise Meat did a short burst of  "Oh dr dr gimme he blues I got a bad case of loving you"..

Had to get so many pix of John lol. It's impossible to get pix of him behind the drums, they're soooo high up!!! so made the most of it with this encore lol

You would never know that Meat had been in hospital from his performance. He was excellent!! The rest of the band were great also, Patti really gives her performance her all. Especially during forever young. She really is amazing.

Noticed a lot of bum pinching going on, on stage tonight lol. A certain Mr Sulton pinched a certain Mr Crooks bottom during Forever young. I'm sure he also pinched Patti's on his way past, or did Patti pinch his? yep my brains stopped...

There were xmas hats on the piano and a few other places I could see, so I was getting really excited thinking we was gonna ge a cool rendition of Silent Night like they did in Belfast, sadly it never happened though maybe nearer xmas.

Unfortunately We Are Family / It's Only Rock 'n' Roll has been dropped since Meat went into hopsital. But replaced with an excellent version of I'd Lie For You
